UC Riverside State Authorization for Distance Education
The U.S. Department of Education requires institutions offering distance education programs to be authorized by each state in which the institution enrolls students (if such authorization is required by the state). Currently, these requirements apply only to these distance education programs at UCR:
- Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (Low Residency Program)
- Master of Science Online in Engineering
Each state has a different set of requirements for allowing out-of-state universities to offer online degree programs to its residents. Expand the accordion menus on this page to see the states in which UCR is currently authorized to enroll students for these programs, states where UCR is currently pursuing authorization, and states in which UCR is not authorized to enroll students for these programs.
