Dear Colleagues

Thank you for your patience as the Instructional Continuity Workgroup has discussed and refined UCR’s fall quarter instructional guidance, now that the August 16 deadline for the vaccine mandate has passed. The guidance is now available on the Campus Return website, and I strongly encourage everyone to review it closely.

As you know, UCR is planning to return to primarily in-person instruction in fall, with more than 80% of our courses scheduled to meet in-person. This return is predicated on widespread vaccination within our campus community. The campus administration will continue to carefully monitor public health conditions, work closely with state and local health officials, the UC President’s office, and the Academic Senate, and prioritize the health and safety of all members of our campus community as we return to in-person operations. It is very possible that aspects of the fall instructional plan will change in the coming weeks, so please check the website regularly for updates. We also will communicate any significant changes via email.

I am grateful to the Instructional Continuity Workgroup, which includes all of the deans and the faculty executive committee chairs, as well as other faculty and staff experts, for their thoughtful, thorough, and collaborative approach to creating this guidance. If anyone has questions about fall quarter that are not answered on the website, please send these to the Instructional Continuity Workgroup through your dean or faculty executive committee chair, or directly to Erin Schuster, Executive Assistant to the Provost, at erin.schuster@ucr.edu. An upcoming webinar also is being planned and details will be announced soon.

Sincerely,

Liz
