University of California, Riverside

Office of the Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor

Provost Priorities

The Provost is committed to the growth and support of student success; nurturing and promoting diversity and excellence; and building the infrastructure necessary to support a major research university. UC Riverside's strategic plan, entitled "UCR 2020: The Path to Preeminence," serves as a 10-year blueprint for the Provost as the campus seeks to attain new levels of excellence with the stature of an AAU university.

Strategic Plan

UCR 2020: The Patch to PreeminenceIn 2009, a year-long process was undertaken to develop a strategic plan, entitled "UCR 2020: The Path to Preeminence". Under the guidance of the Provost's steering committee, eight subcommittees composed of 144 members of the campus and the community explored critical aspects of the campus's mission. A draft report underwent several revisions incorporating campus and community feedback before a final version was published. The finalized plan was presented to the Regents.

The plan and associated working papers are available on the Strategic Plan website.

Academic Planning Initiatives

The Provost & Executive Vice Chancellor leads and supports campus-wide academic initiatives such as strategic planning, long-range visioning, and developing proposals for new colleges, schools, and divisions.

WASC Accreditation

UC Riverside's regional accrediting organization is the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). A key element of the WASC accreditation is to establish explicit links between campus strategic planning efforts and student learning. This culture assists the campus in establishing and improving the excellence of its programs, its students, and its research and learning environment.

Please visit the WASC Accreditation website for more information.
